Tatase (Bell Pepper) is a popular soup ingredient in many Nigerian cuisines. It gives soups a reddish-fresh look and flavour. Tatashe – originally spelt as ‘tatase’ – is the Yoruba name for “big red pepper” and is suitable for stews/sauce or salads when de-seed.
Tatase peppers are rich in vitamins A, C, and K and antioxidants. Vitamins A and C help to prevent cell damage, cancer, and diseases related to ageing, and they support immune function. They also reduce inflammation like that found in arthritis and asthma.
