Okpei is a food flavouring produced from fermented oil seeds such as Egusi seeds, Prosopis Africana (Mesquite seeds), castor oil seeds, fluted pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds. Much like Dawadawa, Okpei is used mostly by Nigeria’s southeastern and middle belts in flavouring soups and other varieties of traditional dishes. It has a very strong aromatic flavour.
